Cooked beans are a superfood that stands out for offering numerous health benefits. For those suffering from diabetes, this legume can be an absolute savior as it helps control blood sugar levels, said an endocrinologist.

In addition to being versatile, beans offer a nutritional profile favorable to diabetics, according to diabetes specialist Diana Bytyqi. “They are loaded with nutrients, minerals and vitamins, in addition to containing a lot of fiber, which tends to leave us feeling fuller. And they are also very rich in proteins.”

On her social networks, Diana stated that beans contain some carbohydrates, which can even increase blood sugar levels a little. However, as they have a lot of protein and fiber, the increase will not be as significant as that of bread or rice.
