João Pedro Sousa’s departure from Famalicão’s technical command means that, once again, the main Portuguese football championship will not come to an end with less than ten changes of coaches, something that has always happened in the last five seasons.

With the most recent one, completed on Tuesday, the League has already equaled the number of dismissals from last season and, among the main European championships (England, Germany, Spain, France and Italy), only the Spanish and Italian have more (11), and these leagues have two more teams than the Portuguese one.

In addition to João Pedro Sousa, Moreno Teixeira, Paulo Turra, Petit, Álvaro Pacheco, Filipe Martins, Pedro Moreira, Daniel Ramos, José Gomes and Pablo Villar have been removed from office since the beginning of 2023/24.

The race started in the first round, when Moreno left V. Guimarães. At the time, he was replaced by Paulo Turra, who also only played five games. The Victorians were not the only ones to change coach twice, being joined by Casa Pia, now led by Gonçalo Santos, successor to Pedro Moreira, who, in turn, succeeded Filipe Martins.

Boavista, Arouca, Vizela, Estoril and Chaves, in addition to Famalicão, are the other clubs in the League that have changed coaches since the start of the season.
