Between the “devil on the loose” and a sinking Parliament, the leader of Chega will be making a mistake that could cost him dearly in the next legislative elections.

First hours in the new legislature, first “scolding”.

The impasse that occurred last week, the delay in election of the president of the Assembly of the Republic, had one focus: the He arrives. Especially your leader André Ventura, who announced that he would facilitate the election of Aguiar-Branco. He didn’t.

At the time of the non-election, sideways glances, surprised and disappointed, were visible in the first two rows of the PSD parliamentary bench – all in the direction of Ventura.

Soon afterwards, the president of Chega justified himself. He said that AD leaders and officials “falsely rushed to deny” this understanding for the election of Aguiar-Branco and a vice-president of Chega to the Assembly – something that came to fruition later.

He also spoke of Paulo Rangel and Nuno Melo (who would later explain that there was no agreement with the CDS) but, as in the case of the “vivid forces”, he did not say any more names.

“To be trustworthy, André Ventura only has to reveal the names. From the PSD, of course, and from you. And let each one say what it was like, what they agreed on and why it went wrong. This is the Devil! Hilarious and a joke“, reacts Luís Delgado in Visão magazine, where he warns that there is a “devil on the loose” in the Assembly of the Republic.

Alexandre Borges thinks that the future of Portugal is in the hands of a “angry boy” and adds, in the Observador newspaper, that Chega “showed his face, for those who hadn’t noticed it yet: that of the bully kid who kicks the game ball to the oldest unpleasant place and says: “oh, don’t give me the ball? So, no one plays.”

In the same newspaper, João Pedro Marques sees Ventura as “a political actor in the literal sense of the expression. Very skilled in the histrionic arts, he makes victimization and fuss its main assets.”

Luís Pedro Nunes warns that an “unpredictable” party like Chega can cause “chaos in governance”. And he foresees other similar episodes, already in the first days of the new Government.

The commentator reinforced on SIC Notícias that André Ventura “has no wordsand uses the language of the 21st century, where the truth no longer counts.”

But he left a warning to the “euphoric” André Ventura: “You are making a mistake – considers that those 1.1 million voters are in tupperware in the fridge and they don’t come out; that are won, that doesn’t lose them. And he thinks that whoever voted for Chega will accept him being prime minister. Is not true”.
