André Villas-Boas, candidate for president of FC Porto, responded this Saturday afternoon to Pinto da Costa’s statements about the excerpt from the documentary about the president of FC Porto. The current Porto president told the former coach to “call another father”.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a visit to the FC Porto de Fiães House, Villas-Boas said that if Pinto da Costa understands, he can withdraw his statements from the documentary.
“The answers I would like to get from the president were the answers to the letter addressed by this candidate, questions regarding the future of FC Porto, the structuring decisions taken in its direction, the relationship that FC Porto has increasingly growing with the fund and with members linked to its future candidacy. These are questions posed to the FC Porto administration and which we believe the members should see clarified. Regarding these statements, I was invited to testify in your comment. If the If the president wants to withdraw my statements, just delete them and I will disappear from the documentary”, said Villas-Boas, quoted by the newspaper O Jogo, who admitted that the election date is not the best date.
“The 27th of April is fundamental to the history of FC Porto. I appeal to your vote. It is a difficult date. There is an FC Porto-Sporting on the 27th of April. Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, on the 26th there may be a lot of people out. It is important that these elections are the most voted in the club’s history. Until now they were in 1988, the second most voted were in 2020, these could always be the most voted. Vote for who you believe in, exercise your your right to vote and put the cross in the right place”, he continued.
“I want the transition to be as smooth as possible and for the sports direction to be handed over to renowned people, with experience in the market, so that, with my guidelines, we are competitive in this area. The financial challenge is great; FC Porto is with a large part of the anticipated revenues, and whoever denies this is lying. The dented accounts have entered into a financial imbalance. The challenge is enormous, that’s why I have focused on finding the best financial director for FC Porto. That’s why I chose José Pereira da Costa, who has years of experience in the financial markets to help with debt restructuring. The club’s rehabilitation will take time, our margin for error is minimal and, for that, we cannot fail in the sports field. It is not a candidacy of the traitor partners, it is the partners of FC Porto, who are the owners of FC Porto and who at this stage want to see a change in the club, they want the truth to be told to them”, he concluded.
