Conversation filters are now available on WhatsApp!

Being one of the favorite messaging applications, most people are always aware of the changes coming to WhatsApp. Beta versions often give us a good idea of ​​what’s coming in future versions. However, not all features from the beta version make it to the stable version. We thought the same fate would befall conversation filters, which first appeared in July last year, offering on-screen buttons above the conversation list to sort conversations on WhatsApp. However, this does not appear to be the case. WhatsApp developers have relaunched these filters in the latest beta version of the Android application.

Conversation filters are now available on WhatsApp!

This resurrected version of the filters was found in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.6.16 by WABetaInfo. However, WhatsApp appears to have given up on having four pill-shaped buttons, with the latest implementation having just three. All, Unread and Groups.

The filters will be set to All by default, showing the most recent conversations first, while the Unread and Groups buttons perform fairly self-explanatory functions. On the other hand, the aforementioned July 2023 beta offered Personal and Business filters, but didn’t have one for groups.

WABetaInfo says this feature is currently available to a limited number of beta testers, but wider availability will begin in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, similar filters are also being tested on WhatsApp Web, and a beta last month highlighted the inclusion of a Favorites filter for your most important contacts.

Another new feature is that WhatsApp is also testing the ability to pin up to five conversations, up from the previous limit of three. This is a significant update for WhatsApp users.
