Experts consulted by the newspaper recommend that victims of harassment ignore, block and report users who send messages of a sexual nature. “What I recommend is a preventive block,” shares Tania, who sometimes also chooses to publicly expose the predator, to force the platform to take action.

The platforms guarantee to be aware of this problem. “We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to communicating in an unwanted or sexually explicit way with anyone at Vinted,” the organization explained to “El País”. At Vinted, investigations are carried out into each harassment report on a “case-by-case” basis, and the person being harassed is invited to “contact the police” if the situation so requires.

Wallapop, in turn, also offers the possibility of “reporting any offensive situation” through the application. The team dedicated to content supervision “represents 8% of the workforce, monitors activity on the platform and has advanced tools such as artificial intelligence to analyze the activity of profiles that may be potentially dangerous.”
