The terrorist attack was claimed by the Islamic State of Khorasan Province (ISPK), but Russian authorities insist that the trail of the attack leads to Ukraine, which Kiev vehemently denies.
Despite acknowledging the involvement of Islamists in the attack, Russian investigators claim that they received “significant amounts of money and cryptocurrencies from Ukraine” to prepare the attack.
On Monday, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (FSB) linked the terrorist attack to Ukrainian attacks in Russian border regions in recent months, particularly Kursk and Belgorod.
Russian security forces reported the arrest of 15 people in connection with the March 22 attack.
All those detained are of Tajik ethnicity, including the four alleged perpetrators of the massacre at the Crocus City Hall concert hall.
Russia invaded Ukraine on March 24, 2022, triggering a war with an uncounted number of civilian and military casualties.
