The Health Department (SES) of the Federal District (DF) applied, this Thursday (25), around 700 doses of the bivalent vaccine against covid-19 to the population of the DF that falls into the priority group for vaccination. Stock at the beginning of the day was approximately one thousand doses. The remainder is distributed across eight immunization rooms in the Eastern regions – Paranoá, São Sebastião and Itapoã -, and at UBS 3 in Taguatinga. This Friday (26), eight vaccine rooms have doses available for the population. Access the addresses at this link.

The quantity of vaccines in stock is updated daily according to demand in the DF’s vaccination rooms. This data is made available on the secretariat’s portal, with places where the population can find the doses.

The manager of the SES-DF Central Cold Chain, Tereza Luiza Pereira, advises that the population check whether there are still doses available in the unit they wish to go to get vaccinated and pay attention to the priority group. “We started this Thursday [dia 25 de abril] with around a thousand doses distributed in eight vaccination rooms, however, this number is dynamic. As people get vaccinated, this number changes and decreases. Therefore, it is important to know if there are still doses available before leaving home”, warns the manager.

Protocol

Since the beginning of 2024, there is no longer the immunization schedule that became known at the beginning of vaccination, that of first and second doses, first booster (third dose) and second booster (fourth dose), more boosters. As determined by the Ministry of Health (MS), primary vaccination schedules (D1 + D2) and boosters against Covid-19 are no longer routinely recommended.

The MS vaccination protocol, followed by the SES, authorizes vaccination over 5 years old as long as they are within priority groups, such as people aged 60 or over, pregnant women, immunocompromised people, among others. See them all here.

For children between 6 months and 4 years old, vaccination against Covid-19 continues as normal, available in 124 vaccination rooms.

Exception

Anyone aged 5 years or over, including adolescents, adults and the elderly, who has not received any dose of vaccine against Covid-19 and wants to be immunized, can start the primary vaccination schedule (D1 + D2) or complete it . The recommendation is to receive both doses 28 days apart. It is necessary to bring an identity document with a photo and a vaccination booklet. If you do not have the booklet, you can request it at a Basic Health Unit (UBS).

New shipment of vaccines

The Department of Health will receive a new shipment of vaccines from the Ministry of Health (MS) to replenish the stock at the 124 vaccination points in the federal capital. Last Friday (19), the Ministry signed a contract for the acquisition of 12.5 million doses of the most recent vaccine against Covid-19. The vaccines, according to the ministry, should reach the population within the next 15 days.

Prevention action

While the MS doses are not enough to replenish the DF’s vaccine stocks, the DF’s Cold Chain placed an extra order of Coronavac to supply the vaccination rooms in case of demand for the vaccine. In total, 8 thousand doses were requested. “This is a government action so that we do not run out of any vaccine during the time when the Ministry replenishes the remaining doses”, explained Tereza.
