Miguel Oliveira finished this afternoon’s timed training in 1.37.342 minutes, placing 19th, 1.317 seconds behind the fastest, Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who broke the Spanish circuit record.

The defending champion performed his best lap in 1.36.025 minutes, leaving Spaniard Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) in second place at 0.100 seconds, with fellow Spaniard Marc Márquez (Ducati) in third, at 0.143.

The afternoon was quite bumpy, with Raúl Fernández (Aprilia), Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) suffering falls at the beginning of the session.

Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) would also end up crashing, without consequences, as would Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, KTM test rider.

It was then that Miguel Oliveira fell, in the last corner of the Andalusian circuit, with the bike doing several pirouettes but with no physical consequences for the Portuguese rider.

Before the end of these timed training sessions, the official KTM riders, Jack Miller and Brad Binder, would still suffer crashes.

With 19th place this afternoon, Miguel Oliveira was unable to guarantee direct passage to the second phase of qualifying, on Saturday, having to go through Q1 to try to secure one of the top two positions in order to move on.

In free practice this morning, Oliveira was 15th fastest, 1.419 seconds behind first place, Spaniard Alex Márquez (Ducati).

The MotoGP Spanish GP is the fourth round of the season.

Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati) arrives as leader, with 80 points.
