This Friday, Russia bombed the Ukrainian railway network to prevent the passage of a convoy carrying weapons from Western allies, reported a source from Kiev’s security authorities, an allegation confirmed by the Moscow army.
According to a Ukrainian official, quoted by the French news agency AFP, the attack aimed to “paralyze” the supply of military supplies, part of which was sent by Western countries to help Kiev fight Russia.
The same source added that Moscow has carried out a series of attacks on Ukrainian railways, pointing out that such actions “are classic measures before an offensive”.
The objective “is to paralyze deliveries and the transport of military cargo”, he said.
The Russian army announced, however, that it had hit a convoy in the Ukrainian region of Donetsk (east) that was transporting Western weapons to be delivered to Kiev.
“A convoy with weapons and Western military equipment was hit near the city of Udachne,” the Russian Defense Ministry said, without giving further details on the result of the attack.
Ukraine has relied on financial and weapons aid from Western allies since Russia invaded the country on February 24, 2022.
